Dharamsala (also Dharamshala) is a city and amunicipal corporation in Kangra district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
As of the 2001 India census, Dharamshala had a population of 19,124. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Dharamshala has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80% and, female literacy is 73%. In Dharamshala, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
